What a disappointment
I have written in these august pages what I consider is one of the biggest disappointments in the Commonwealth Parliament — the Hon. Angus Taylor. Here and here and here.
I noted back in June that in addition to Angus’ poor performance was seemingly noticed by Peter Dutton in his interesting use of the double negative:
Asked about the row on Wednesday, Dutton said: “Well, Angus is not incompetent.”
Note the language and the curious use of the double negative. He did not say Angus was competent. He just said Angus was not incompetent.
Not the most glowing endorsement of his chief economics spokesman.
But today. OMG. KMN.
His Warren Hogan speech, oration, whatever. Either he has some really low altitude flyers in his office or in reality, he is a low altitude flyer himself.
This is a sampling of what poor old Angus said, smattered between his other cliches:
We need to get back to productivity gains based on investment in physical, intellectual and human capital.
and my favourite:
We need a high-quality debate with economists, academics, and policymakers all taking part.
Sniff sniff. Do you smell it? I certainly do.
It’s the pungent odour that wafts off the big government statist. That governments and their hangers on are the central planners and central movers in the economy.
What about productivity gains from a massive reduction in the state? From reduced regulation, reduced taxes, reduced spending, reduced bureaucracy?
No. We need more central planning from those Hacks in Canberra.
And a debate with economists, academics and policy makers? What is that man smoking?
Where are the value creators, the capital allocators, the innovators, the entrepreneurs? No. They are the passengers in the Mazzucato designed big government bus.
Doomed we are. Doomed.
It’s been suggested that Uruguay is the place to go to. Any other thoughts?
