In an highly target rich environment, it must be asked. Where’s Angus (Taylor)?
High levels of inflation. Record levels of government spending and taxes. Bracket creep. Economic re-regulation. Market interventions. Bloated public sector. 13 interest rate rises. An out of control social program in the NDIS. A per-capita recession.
The Australian economy is experiencing significant, unusual, and most importantly, unaddressed problems. Yet where is the Opposition’s economic narrative and where is the Opposition Treasurer?
Last week’s MYEFO showed the Commonwealth had collected record revenues by forcibly extracting more and more money from Australians. Yet what did Mr Taylor have to say?
Angus Taylor, said Labor had “ignored” the household budget but declined to call for further cost of living relief, arguing instead the government’s priority should be to “get inflation down”.
Yawn. The cut through of teaspoon through a block of ice.
If recent history is a guide, a coalition government would be terrible for Australia. But it would be slightly better than a Labor government. As Thomas Sowell would say:
I prefer disaster to catastrophe.
