I know I am possibly, hopefully preaching to the converted and maybe this reflects my ignorance. However no mater what, this gives me the sh*ts.
Last week, upon the news of Chris Uhlmann joining SkyNews, came this garbage from the SMH:
I was not aware that there are flavours of news. Conservative, progressive, whatever.
I thought there was just news. Yes. Sky may have a conservative flavour to its commentary, but does this flavour extend to news? No.
Ditto the crap about it being Murchoch-owned.
SkyNews Australia is owned by News Corp Australia is owned by News Corp, a US based, Nasdaq listed public company. Yes, Murdoch (whichever) is a major shareholder with disproportionate voting rights, but he/they do not own the SkyNews (Australia) network.
This garbage is what passes for journalism in Australia.
I agree with you Spart. News is just that, news. Commentary is someone's opinion on the news or whatever is the current event at the moment. The SMH has a history of not being able to tell the difference between news and commentary.
