What's good for the Folou is good for the Lattouf
Fascinating. Just fascinating that so much of our public debates are premised not on principle but rather faction.
It has now been 2 days of court hearings, a very very expensive use of public and private resources, to hear the unfair dismissal case brought by Antoinette Lattouf against the ABC.
Poor petal:
has broken down in the witness box under cross-examination during her unfair dismissal case against the ABC in the Federal Court, bursting into tears when recounting the moments after she was sacked as a fill-in radio host, and how her dismissal by the public broadcaster prompted her to drink heavily.
Let’s just get a few of the top level. According to my friend GeminiAI:
Lattouf's Dismissal:
Lattouf was hired for a five-day casual presenting role.
She was dismissed three days into the role.
The dismissal followed her sharing a Human Rights Watch post on Instagram that accused Israel of using starvation as a "weapon of war" in Gaza.
I seem to recall a similar issue, not that long ago, when another person shared some comments on social media and was fired. Israel Folau. Again from GeminiAI:
Folau's social media posts: Israel Folau, a star rugby player for Australia, shared several posts on social media that quoted Bible verses and expressed his views on homosexuality. These posts were widely condemned as homophobic.
Rugby Australia's response: Rugby Australia terminated Folau's multi-million dollar contract, citing a breach of their player code of conduct and social media policy.
Two high profile, highly paid persons were terminated for their social media activities and are/were seeking compensation.
Interestingly, the tribe that supported Folau are against Lattouf and vice-versa.
Whether they actually breached their employment conditions seems irrelevant.
When two tribes go to war ….
