In one of my favourite scenes from one of my favourite movies, mobster Hyman Roth tells the story of the killing of Moe Green to Michael Corleone.

Roth explained to Corleone that he did not get upset about the execution of his friend Green because “this is the business we have chosen”.

Mobsters gonna mob.

So it was with sense of Deja vu that I read about the Australian Greens, aka Hamas down under, criticizing the University of Sydney spending more on consultants to workout worker under payments than actually paying the underpaid workers:

The University of Sydney has spent millions of dollars more on external contractors and consultants – including PwC – for calculating and administering liability for wage underpayments and a review of its systems than it has paid out to staff, answers provided to the Greens have revealed.

OMG. Government, including universities, have no respect for tax payers, fee payments, citizens. What a revelation.

This is the business they have chosen. Efficiency, effectiveness, productivity. That’s for the suckers who pay the bills.

And the scale of incompetence:

In the answers to supplementary questions, provided to chair of the New South Wales education committee, Greens MLC Abigail Boyd, it was revealed the university had repaid 514 casual staff a total value of $2.8m as of last month, while across all “remediation work streams”, it had paid 10,692 professional staff a total value of $17.4m.

Spent $17.4 million on consultants to repay $2.8 million. That’s a FUC factor of 6.2. Where FUC stands for F*ck U Citizens.

How does this happen. Well.
