I don’t recall from where the expression clearing the barnacles off the political ship came from. I suspect it emerged within or around the Abbott Government. But the biggest barnacle that needs to be removed from the national political scene is the uber-barnacle. The ultimate barnacle. The grand barnacle. Barnaby “Barnacle” Joyce.
