Teals Shmeals and tales of irrelevancies
Why is there so much media attention given to the Teals and their demands. Who cares what they think. They have no electoral influence or relevance.
In today’s SMH, Natassia Chrysanthos writes:
Teal MPs want tax reform on the agenda as they float support for new cuts.
Really. They want this they want that. But the government does not need their votes.
Apparently:
Teals Kate Chaney and Monique Ryan said they would support Labor’s changes,
Really. But the government does not need Chaney’s or Ryan’s support to get ANYTING through the lower house.
Oh but:
Kylea Tink, the member for North Sydney, where the median income was $1402, said she was yet to decide on a position as she consulted her electorate.
Well Ms Tink. Take your time. Your position has no political consequence.
Why note ask what Jacquie Lambie or David Pocock want - their votes count. Their votes are necessary to get things through the Senate.
In a political or public policy sense, the Teals are irrelevant. Utterly irrelevant. It’s like asking the Prime Minister of Canada what he wants to support the government’s tax changes.
If this is some surreptitious way for certain journalists and media organisations to provide contra benefits and publicity to favoured politicians, then this should be disclosed.
