Just when you think the Australian government has hit peak idiot, they dig deep and climb some more.
Today, literally in the last 10 minutes, the Commonwealth Treasury released their Regulatory Initiatives Grid - the RIG. A product that can only come out of an over resourced agency full of people who have never worked in a private sector role.
Exhibit A: Remarkably Dumb and Intergalactically Dumber:
Exhibit B: From Jim Chalmers’ forward:
Our Government’s reform agenda is all about modernising our economy and maximising our advantages. A big part of this agenda is focused on getting capital flowing more efficiently and effectively in our economy by making it simpler and easier to do business in Australia.
Ha. Interesting commentary from the Central Planner in Chief.
That’s why we’re proud to be publishing the inaugural edition of the financial sector Regulatory Initiatives Grid (RIG), which we’ve been working on since March this year. The RIG will enhance our work to support the standard business of regulation to be carried out in a more coordinated way across the financial sector.
So basically, they have spent 9 months working on a 33 page brochure celebrating increased regulation.
Your tax dollars in action.
Exhibit C: Let’s go to the details.
The document celebrates, yes celebrates the introduction of 71 new and major regulatory initiatives undertaken over the 30 months of the Albanese government. That ever increasing regulation is a GOOD thing. From what planet do these people come?
Some more detail:
Do they report on outcomes and whether anyone is happier or better off? No.
Do they report on what were meant to be and what were ultimately the benefits of these regulations? No.
This is a celebration of activity for activity sake; of busyness to justify their overbloated salaries.
OMG. Who thinks this garbage is worth celebrating.
Meanwhile in Argentina, Javier Milei is slashing regulations and government spending and delivering economic growth.
There is an unfortunate symmetry here. The higher Australia’s government climbs mount idiot, the deeper they hole they dig for Australians.
This is epitome of Charlie Mungers description of bureaucracy.
