No doubt they mean well, but the AFR published an op-ed in the weekend paper lamenting the lack of a pharma/biomedical manufacturing industry in Australia - Why we need to make our own drugs:
Australia does come up with great biomedical innovations but this IP is then sent abroad and others grow rich on it. Now, there’s an opportunity to break the mould.
