One of the problems with electing charlatans to high public office is that charlatans gonna charlat. Take this from Treasurer Jim Chalmers:
Conceding the government needed to improve its economic messaging, Chalmers on Thursday went on a media blitz across Nine’s Today Show, ABC, Sky News and Sunrise to defend his record as the latest polling by this masthead showed Dutton now in the lead as preferred prime minister.
That’s right. The Australian economy is on an express train to penury via poverty and the Treasurer, effectively the Chief Financial Officer of the Commonwealth of Australia, is of the view that it’s not the policies of the government, it’s not the priorities of the government, it’s not the profligacy of the government that is causing problems. It’s the messaging.
That’s right. With the longest per-capita recession in recorded history. With the biggest drop in disposable income in the developed world. With record tax expropriations. According to Dr Jim, Australians should get over themselves. We just don’t know how good we have it and we should be grateful, notwithstanding sub-optimal “messaging” from the government.
Buffoon.
Then there was this cracker, for which I am almost speechless:
At a doorstop at Parliament House, Chalmers also branded the Coalition “job snobs” for their recent criticism of the fact that about four in five new jobs taken up in the past two years were in the non-market sector: areas including healthcare, education and the public service.
According to Dr Jim, it is snobbery to criticise taking ever increasing sums from people by force to give to (mostly) Labor voters. Adverse economic effects notwithstanding.
Last election I said, wrote and thought that nothing could be worse than another term of the Morrison government. How wrong was I. How wrong was I.
Just when you think things can’t get any worse, they do.
No matter how smart a lefty is, they remain brainwashed by the dogma. It is same all over the world with some of the smartest people in the world. It's always the message not the truth, always the process not the result, always the amount of victimhood points you have not whether you are good person. I'm not destroying your children's economic future, Im protecting you from the evil ones.
