Free, free and free. More policy from Australian Hamas (Greens).
Families would pay nothing to send their children to state schools and would receive $800 per child payments for out-of-pocket costs, under a Greens plan tomake public education free.
This is the opening paragraph from a story in the Australian Financial Review describing the latest policy fart from the Australian (Gang) Greens.
Families would also get heaps of sugar and spice and everything nice.
Unless by some divine mandate that the COST of delivering state school education was nil, it is economically impossible for families to pay nothing. They would just pay in another way through a combination of
higher taxes
inflation
slower economic growth
diminished resources for other (essential) government services
Would have been nice for the AFR journalist to have noted such but hey.
And in another rhetorical red card, the journalist adds:
Mr Bandt said parents should not have to fork out for voluntary fees.
Forced to volunteer. This is government writ large.
God help us all.
