I have never really understood the media oxygen given to the Teals. Their views, while maybe interesting to some, carry completely no weight. The government does not need their support on anything. Except to perhaps irritate the Coalition.
Why does not Andrew Wilkie or Bob Katter get the same attention as do the Teals? Perhaps it is because the Australian media would like them to be relevant.
Another way to describe the Teals is strategically irrelevant. Sound and fury signifying nothing. Absolutely nothing.
And speaking of strategically irrelevant, consideration should be given painting the R.G. Casey Building, aka DFAT HQ, in the colour teal to remind its occupants of their strategic irrelevance. Perhaps also a nice Teal coloured pants suit for Foreign Minister Penny Wong along the same lines.
Many of these puffed up wanna be Europeocrats bestride the corridors of Canberra, lecturing and posturing on the requisite virtues necessary to advance their careers in the United Nations or to get the invitation to the cool Parisian cocktail parties.
They make up big sounding descriptors so that they have something to hang off their rainbow coloured lanyards. Things like middle power.
What the hell is a middle power? There is either power or no power. It is a binary state.
And to should just how little influence these people have, beyond their inability to engage with China, look at the recent embarrassment of Anthony Albanese, schlepping all the way to Canadia to meet with President Trump only to not meet with President Trump.
That’s 20 hours there. 20 hours back. And heaps of carbon emissions - from the AirToto and not the wasted DFAT meetings.
And for all this wasted time and cost to engage with the US President and key AUKUS decision maker, what did taxpayers get? Albo cuddling Zelensky.
Maybe Senator Wong could move to have Magnitsky sanctions put onto President Trump for standing up Albo.
This is what you get when you build an institution full of self righteous, posturing, arrogant windbags. And I am talking about DFAT and not the Teals this time.
Vicious, accurate and maliciously enjoyable portrayal of the delusions of what is referred to in Canberra as the Department of foreign fairies.

You weren't by chance, in another life, the speechwriter behind Paul Keating's jibe on Peacock, that a "souffle never rises twice"? By chance listening as teenager - most withering bemusing solioquy I'm ever likely to hear in one lifetime - and I wasn't voting Labor!
