One of Australia’s oldest dictionaries, the Macquarie Dictionary, has chosen the word “enshittification” as the word of 2024.
According to the Patriotic ABC:
The Macquarie Dictionary has said the word of the year for 2024 sums up how many Australians feel about the world at the moment.
It is a word that could be deemed potentially offensive, but it means the deterioration of a product or service.
I don’t know how, but would like to start a campaign for the word of 2025:
En-albo-fication.
It means the deterioration and destruction of an economy and community brought about by government through divisive social policies and horrible economic policies.
In the perhaps 2.5 years of the first term of the Albanese government, Australian’s have felt and witnessed:
record taxes, spending, debt and deficit.
longest per-capita recession on record.
Prices up close to 20%.
Standard of living down more than 8%.
Institutional destruction.
Unprecedented social discord brough about through poor leadership, ignorance and cowardice.
I call on your support dear readers. Let’s start the campaign. First step … general usage in speech and print.
En-albo-fication for the world of the 2025. Use. Promote it. Repeat it.
Enalbofication really sums up how Australians, not the elite, but the general population are feeling at the moment.
