Yeah. I have always thought Peter Costello was over rated.

Yes he was competent but not stellar. His advantage is that every treasurer that has followed him has been a combination of fool and fraud. Some more fool, others more fraud.

But what I cannot abide is his big head big noting. This was Costello quoted in today’s AFR on something he said at the ARC conference in London.

I always argued when I was paying off federal debt in Australia, that debt is not just an economic problem, it’s a moral problem,

I (Costello) was paying off federal debt? Really.

Was he signing the cheques? Was it his money? How was it that he (Costello) was paying off federal debt.

It was the Government, of which he was a member and not leader, paying off the debt on behalf of Australians. It was the right policy but it was the policy of the elected government. If his Prime Minister and Cabinet colleagues disagreed, it would not have happened.

Team effort you know. He wasn’t king or president.
