Chosing between Coalition or Labor - in which lung would you prefer to get cancer
In an interview on SkyNews aired this morning:
Peter Dutton has threatened to break up the country’s biggest insurers, saying there is a lack of competition in the market, which is making policies more expensive and likening them to the dominant supermarket chains.
Interesting. Interesting.
Could the lack of competition be the result of regulatory policies designed to minimise competition to ensure the viability of a handful of insurers? Like is the case with banks, airines, exchanges, etc. You know, the businesses with high profitability because of government policy including through regulatory barriers to entry
Dutton added:
Heightening his attacks on big business and promising to create further federal government-forced divestiture powers, Dutton said market intervention was necessary to ensure consumers were not be ripped off.
Given also the extensive actuarial, risk management, and business expertise within the Coalition, how will they know that customers are being ripped off rather than price reflecting the market price of risk?
But what about the government rip offs?
The NDIS will cost $50 billion this year. That is about 7% of Commonwealth spending. Any plans to do anything about that? Silence eh.
What about the extensive middle class welfare that the Commonwealth spends ripping off tax payers? Any plans to do anything about that? More silence.
Is his nick name Dutts or Dudd?
In a binary choice between the Coalition and Labor, my vote is currently for the Coalition by a hair. But the more the Coalitions speaks, if feels like being asked in which lung would I prefer to get cancer … left or right? Notwithstanding chances being that it will spread to the lung one anyway.
One thing at least is clear though. Voting for the Greens is like wishing to have cancer in your lungs, brain, heart, kidneys and bones.
